Plan B

24x24x1.5” mixed media on wood panel.

Ever make plans in advance, only to realize the day of—all you want is freedom from any commitments?

This started with a plan. It began structure—vintage sewing patters collaged into the base layer and then followed by bold graphic mashups of laser transfers of diamonds and numerals.

Then, plans were suddenly canceled. The subsequent frenetic layers occlude the base layer. Unintentional and painterly spontaneity allowed for a subconscious energy. Spray paint, graphite, and china marker create rich line work. Spray paint and Posca Pens give it a subtle street vibe with primitive mark making. The end result is non-objectional and unintentional, with modern update to the vintage palette.
