Started with a raw-canvas wash of pinks, reds, and earthy neutrals. A second canvas got watery phthalo turquoise and cyan, then was unstretched and cut into abstract botanical shapes. I collaged the canvas on canvas. Inspired by Matisse—the repeating shapes make a propeller-like rhythm, pulling you through the layers and evoking the pull and flow of ocean currents.
