Bowl of Tomatoes

$3,450.00

36x48”
Mixed media on unprimed canvas

A fresh take on still life was a spontaneous experiment on an unprimed canvas. I had initially begun with a vision but then got swept away by my playlist, letting those go-with-the-flow moments bring out the cool stuff. A few dabs of tomato-red hit the canvas, and bam – we got cherry tomatoes making the scene. This piece is all about capturing those impromptu vibes, a throwback to the good old days we all yearn for now and then. It makes me think back to my grandfather's amazing garden. He grew zucchinis the size of baseball bats and the most delicious cherry tomatoes. As a kid, I used to stuff my cheeks full of them, like a chipmunk.

It's a quirky collage of abstract forms and playful drips, tied together with a checkerboard pattern that throws a nod to the classics while breaking into the modern era. I hope it cracks a smile, stirs a bit of excitement about the little surprises life tosses our way.
