Ikigai, a Japanese concept meaning "a reason for being," sits at the intersection of what you love, what you're good at, what the world needs, and what sustains you. Collaged fragments of vintage print ephemera include two LIFE magazine logos (from my grandparents collection) partially hidden by playing cards. Scattered red-lined botanical marks were inspired by Cy Twombly. The dotted Kelly green anchor brings a vibrant, zen freshness against the neutrals and complementary colors. It's an otherwise breathing, ethereal, and infinitely layered piece.
