Top 10 Studio Tools—August

My studio is pretty small and this summer I did some demo to open the space and got reorganized. I put all my paints and supplies with an Ikea Shelf (which I added wheels to). I got this super cute vintage dentist cabinet and it holds tons of supplies; markers, pastels, oil bars, tapes, spray paint caps and all the things! I need to put this puppy on wheels too.

  1. Frisket Film

Obsessed! This comes in large sizes and is perfect for getting clean lines even with super wet acrylics and it doesn’t bleed. You can reuse it a few times too, so great if you want to repeat shapes in a series. So much better than painters tape.

2. Robot vacuum

I love that I can set an automatic cleaning schedule and it auto empties.

3. Ram Board floor protector

This stuff is great for keeping the floors protected from all the paint splatter and they absorb a light amount of moisture.

4. Canvas storage racks on wheels.

Game changer! Obsessed with these, I bought 3 already.

5. Large scale brushes

While I wish they had longer handles that held up spending a long time in a bucket of water, the way they hold the paint is unmatched to my other brushes.

6. Long handle big brushes

Speaking of long handle brushes that don’t split after a long bath in a water bucket, these are great.

7. CALPALMY 2-Pack Extendable Poster Tubes

They expand from 30.5” to 49” and have a shoulder strap and handle, so they are great if you have to take artwork on a plane or if you are shipping large artwork unstretched.

8. Glassine Paper

If you are shipping artwork rolled, I roll the canvas in this archival glassine paper to keep it protected while in transit. https://amzn.to/4cjD2Mr

9. Tongue Depressors

Great for mixing paint and easy clean up, and I use them like a squeegee to smear paint on the canvas too. https://amzn.to/4dC8iaG

10. Extra skinny spray paint caps

Love the thinner lines you get with these. And if you put it on a can of WD 40 before using and shoot some WD40 out through the cap before using, it won’t clog. You can also clean clogged caps with WD40 too. https://amzn.to/4dhUq5A
