From Drab to Fab: Elevate Your Space with Art

Investing in Art: The Emotional and Practical Ways It Will Enhance Your Life

Have you ever walked into a room and felt a sudden shift in your mood? Maybe it's a splash of sunshine through a window, or a warm and cozy fireplace. Or maybe it's the art on the walls.

As a successful senior Product and UX design director and an abstract mixed media painter, I understand the power of design and aesthetics. I've spent the last 20 years improving major brands like Pom Wonderful, United Healthcare, Chewy, and Meta, but my true passion now lies in creating art that evokes emotion and elevates and uplifts the lives of the collectors.

But what is it about a piece of art that makes it so special? Why do we collect and display art in our homes and offices? Is it the prestige of owning a valuable piece? Is it the way it impresses our friends and colleagues?

For me its the everlasting fascination. When I look at a piece an artist friend gave me 20 years ago, it literally makes my heart warm up with smiles, taking me back to the time and place it was given to me. Or remembering the art show I purchased a piece at, the people I was with, the people I met, the artist who created it and the other works I thought about owning. And then the day to day, discovering a new inch I never noticed before and chuckling that I missed it.

The truth is, there are so many reasons why people are drawn to collect art. For some, it's a way to express their personality and style. For others, it's a form of self-care – a reminder to take a moment to appreciate the beauty in the world. And for many, it's the emotional connection they feel to a piece.

But beyond just the personal and emotional reasons for collecting art, there is also scientific evidence to support the benefits of surrounding ourselves with beautiful, vibrant color. Studies have shown that color can have a significant impact on our mood and overall well-being. Bright, bold hues can energize and invigorate, while softer, more calming shades can soothe and relax.

So when you're considering adding a piece of art to your collection, think about the feelings and emotions it will evoke every time you walk into the room. Will it bring joy and positivity? Will it inspire creativity and motivation? Will you simply enjoy staring into it while your are relaxing with a cocktail and unwinding after a long day or celebrating a major accomplishment. Whatever the reason, know that your investment in art is not just about owning a beautiful object – it's about enhancing your life and surroundings in a unique and memorable way.

And if you're in the market for a truly one-of-a-kind piece that will elevate any space, I invite you to browse my collection of abstract mixed media paintings. With bold brushstrokes and vibrant color palettes, my pieces are sure to bring an eclectic, whimsical, upbeat vibe to any room.
